How to prevent the Lash Stickies?

During an extension treatment, a lash stickie is a phrase used to describe when one lash gets stuck to another. This is frequently due to a lack of isolation, the use of a slow-setting lash adhesive, or the application of too much glue to the lash extension.

Stickies can irritate the eyes of your client, causing her to unconsciously rub her eyes or touch the extensions excessively. This may result in lower retention, which no one wants!

On a more severe side, if this occurs frequently, it may negatively impact natural lash growth and result in irreversible lash loss.

On the extension, you don't want a ball of glue! More glue will not result in longer retention. Dip the extension into the middle of the glue dot and slowly slide it out to be sure you're using the right amount. A little coating should be applied 2mm from the bottom of the lash extension.

Too much glue is added to the extension by pulling out too rapidly from the glue dot, scooping the glue with the extension, or skimming across the glue dot.

Do not wash off excess glue with a glue palette or gel pads if you have too much glue on the extension! Simply place the extension in the middle of the glue dot and pull it out slowly. It will adjust to the appropriate amount of adhesive.

Isolation is much easier when you separate the lashes into layers and work through each layer. As a result, you can reduce the chance of lash stickies while also reducing the application time.

It's important taking a few minutes towards the end of the treatment to double-check that you haven't forgotten any lash stickies.

• With your tweezers, examine each individual lash from root to tip. If there are any stickies, separate them.
• Ask your client to blink a few times and roll her eyes in various directions to discover whether she is uncomfortable.
