Eyelash Extension Taping Method For Quick Application
Let's face it, eyelash extension taping can be the most challenging part of any lash extension procedure!
In this article, we'll go over the benefits of using lash patches to isolate and deal with the layers of your customers' lashes, as well as lash extension taping procedures.
Every beautiful pair of lashes should be accompanied by a pleased, satisfied, and relaxed customer. A high level of customer satisfaction is required as a lash artist. Furthermore, full sets of lashes can take anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 hours or more to fill. In order for your client to return, you must make them feel at ease. Clients frequently express their dissatisfaction with incorrect tape applications, which causes them pain and discomfort. Some of the extensions can be torn out when the tape is removed using highly sticky conventional tape, causing client agony.
Today, we'll go over an unusual patch taping technique for lash extensions that will make your job easier, faster, and more productive while keeping client comfort at the top of your mind.
Tip 1: Make sure to cleanse your clients’ eyes (Pre-application)
Make sure the client's eyes and eyelids are clean by using lash foam shampoo, which has a mild cleansing composition that eliminates eye makeup and pollutants from the lashes. To guarantee that the patches you apply adhere to the client's skin well.
Tip 2: Make sure your client looking straight
To isolate the layers of your clients' lashes when working with lash extension patches, make sure your clients are looking straight up (not backward) and not chatting. This ensures that your client's comfort is considered and that the patches do not move.
Tip 3: Keep a safe distance from the waterline
One of the most difficult things to achieve is keeping the lashes down while keeping them away from the client's eye. Maintain at least a distance of 2-3mm between the pads and the client's waterline.
Some lash pads have a tendency to expand or "melt" when exposed to moisture and heat. To avoid this, keep the pad 2-3 mm away from the waterline at all times.
Tip 4: Secure the patches properly (if needed)
Apply two strips of micropore tape about an inch and a half long down the lash line to keep any additional lashes down.
Ask if your client feels any pinching or discomfort when they close their eyes. Then, with their eyes closed, gently tug on the tape and pads to adjust them so that they are comfortable.

How do you tape eyelash back using lash patches?
Technique 1
- Step 1: Remove the eye patches from their packaging and place them on the outer rims of the eyes. Apply to the tops of the lower lashes, making sure not to get any on the waterline. Adjust the patches as needed for the comfort of the customer.
- Step 2: Place the second pair of lash patches underneath the client's lashes. By ensuring that the lash patches' sticky side is facing the eyelid. Using the lash patches, lift the lashes onto the eyelid. Stick the patches to the lower layer of the client's lashes, revealing the lower layer of the lashes.
- Step 3: Pull the bottom lash layer out using straight lash tweezers or isolation tweezers of your choice.
After:
- Step 4: Apply the extensions to any lashes that are showing. Working with the exposed lashes will be much easier with this technique because they will be easier to see. If you're layering with a different mapping, this is a wonderful way to isolate each layer individually.

Tip: When using the lash patches you don't need to worry about the tape pulling out the client’s lashes, as they are less sticky than traditional tape.
Technique 2
- Step 1: Apply the under-eye patches and the tape
- Step 2: Take another pair of lash patches and apply them to the client’s under-eye area
After:
- Step 3: Pull gently the natural lashes using a straight lash tweezer or isolation tweezer of your choice.
After:
- Step 4: Apply the breathable tape to secure the natural lashes from coming out.

Remember: When taping the lashes, it's essential to use suitable lash tape and make sure it's not too sticky. Paper tape is the best tape to use. It's good because the tape will softly peel away from the lashes as you peel it off. Make sure you're holding the lashes while you rip the tape off, as you don't want to pull off the lashes you just applied to your client.
How to apply under-eye patches for eyelash extensions?
- Clean and dry the client's eye area with lash foam shampoo, which has a mild cleansing solution that eliminates eye makeup and impurities from lashes, especially if the client has oily skin, because the lashes will not adhere properly.
- Gently remove the lash patches from the plastic.
- Make sure that when you apply it to the top of the lower lashes there is no contact with the eye of your client or in the waterline.
- When the lash extension application process is completed, gently remove the patches from the outside corner area.
Remember:
- Take your time when applying lash patches
-
Keep an eye on your tweezers for isolation. Their tips should not come into contact with the eye pad in most cases.
- Check the eye pads. It’s always better to detect 2 or 3 lower lashes sticking out or even glued together at an early stage than to find 20 lower lashes already firmly glued to the upper ones.
How to tape bottom lashes?
- I like to use lash tape because it keeps my short and fine bottom lashes from pointing upwards in place. It also helps to reduce puffiness beneath the eyes and high cheekbones.
- Cut about 1.5 inches. Start with the outer corners and place the lash tape along the lash line while avoiding the waterline.
- You'll do the same on the inner corners to form an “X”
- When your client's eyes are closed, double-check that all of the lashes are in place and that the tape isn't riding up to the waterline. If it is, simply adjust it.
Tip: You can use a sensitive tape that's flexible so that it wraps comfortably around the under eyes. It should have the perfect amount of stickiness while being gentle enough to be pain-free while removing.
How to use lash tape?
During the lash extension technique, eyelash extension tape can be used for a variety of purposes. It can be used instead of gel patches under the eyes, as well as on the top of the eyelid to lift the lid and natural lashes.
There are three considerations to consider while deciding which tape to use:
- Client sensitivity (any allergies to gel, latex?)
- Skin Type (dry skin, oily skin, any medical conditions affecting the skin?)
- Eye shape (what kinds of eyes does the client have? oval-shaped or almond-shaped?)
Conclusion
Every lash artist's best buddy is lash extension tape. Everything from correcting bottom lashes to relaxing twitchy clients' eyes can be done with it. You may get by without it for a lash session, but learning how to make tape work for you will change your life! Taping the lashes properly may appear to be a minor detail, but it is crucial.
